Budding Resistance is a site-specific installation realised on one of the statues at the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Vienna. Garden cress was budded and placed across the figure, letting a living, short-lived layer of green take hold on the permanence of carved stone.
The series gathers photographs of both the finished installation and the process of placing the cress — the slow, deliberate work of coaxing a fragile growth onto the monument.
